‌Lithopone is a mixture of zinc sulfide (ZnS) and barium sulfate (BaSO4). Its structural feature is that zinc sulfate and barium sulfide react and are calcined at high temperature to form a very stable network molecular structure.

The specific preparation process of Lithopone is as follows: First, zinc sulfate and barium sulfide solution are reacted to cause precipitation, then filtered, dried and crushed, and finally put into water in a red-hot state for rapid cooling to obtain Lithopone. This preparation method ensures the stability and durability of Lithopone.

The physical properties of Lithopone include: it is a white crystalline powder, non-toxic and non-corrosive, insoluble in water, dissolves in acid and produces hydrogen sulfide gas, and does not work in hydrogen sulfide and alkaline solutions. Under ultraviolet rays in sunlight, Lithopone will gradually turn light gray, but it can restore its original color in the dark. In addition, Lithopone is easily oxidized in the air and will clump and deteriorate when damp.
